plural noun: choices
1. an act of selecting or making a decision when faced with two or more possibilities.Choices is from the Stroke of Emotions Series I created in 2017.
Is your glass half empty, or half full? There comes a time when you have to let go of your negative emotions and move on.
If you can't let go, you won't be able to move forward and rebuild your life. If you don't rebuild your life, you will not be living.
We all know people who have experienced something in the past and they just can't get over it. Five, ten, twenty years or more later and they are still bitter about that something that happened.
They got fired. Their spouse left them. Their life wasn't what they thought it should be.
Bad things happen to all of us. That's part of life.
The big challenge is learning to cope with the bad things so that they don't destroy us. If we can't let go, our lives are being ruled by something that we can't control.
It's not easy. We will never "get over" the bad thing that happened.
But we can learn to live with it, come to terms with it, and rebuild our lives. We can learn to go on in a different way.
If we hang on to the negative, it will affect our health, our friendships, our family.
It will affect everything in our lives, and we will become a tragic echo of our devastating experience.
And that's no way to live.
About Stroke of Emotions:
In an effort to deal with my worry and feelings of helplessness after my husband had a major stroke in 2017, I turned to my hobby of photography. I took self portraits and created composited images using my photographic library to help define and illustrate my feelings. From devastation through rejuvenation, it is a story of a healing journey that I hope will help others going through a difficult time.
