| The Dreamer, 2021 |
I am a photographic artist who is not interested in capturing the world as it is. I enjoy the freedom and individualism of creating conceptual art, images that are based in the reality of my own photography, but developed from my imagination. I think of my artwork as painting with photographs - instead of choosing colours of paint to use, I select elements from many different photographs in my library to build a composite layer by layer. At first glance, my images may seem straight forward, but on closer inspection an element of illusion can be found. Predominantly using elements of nature, I create painterly and surreal collages that deal with a range of subjects, often illustrating the dichotomy of life. I encourage viewers to spend time with my creations, looking deeper to discover their own story and conclusions about the image.
